2013-2014 MMS Project

MMS members are asked to join the NINDS effort to create Common Data Elements (CDEs) for Mitochondrial Disease. This effort is being led by Petra Kaufman.  Please contact MMS officer Dr. Amy Goldstein for more information.

A committee has formed to create Consensus Criteria for Mitochondrial Disease Evaluations. We hope to provide a comprehensive set of guidelines to the clinician community by 2014.

Joint Statement regarding the potential risks of carnitine treatment

In anticipation of concerns and possible confusion from media coverage of a recent article about possible atherogenic effects of trimethylamine oxide which could arise from carnitine administration, we post this statement in conjunction with other agencies. Read the statement at this link.
